Engagement Ring Hacks

Hello 🙂 and happy wedding Wednesday! So as a new fiancé, one of your most prized posessions will become your engagement ring. If you follow me on Instagram, last week I posted on my story of this awesome ring adjuster I found and that sort of inspired me to write a ring hacks post. Lets get to it!

1. Ring adjusters: I mentioned this one in my IG Story, I started losing weight because #SweatingForTheWedding and so naturally my engagement ring fits me a little bigger than it used to. I found these awesome ring adjusters on Amazon that are basically a super fast and easy option if you do not want to get your ring resized, especially if you are in between sizes. The way these work, depending on the thickness of your band, they wrap the band like a coil. You can cut it however long/short you’d like. What I noticed from amazon was that the packs come in different thickness sizes. So if your band is a little thicker then you have some options to play around with and find what is comfortable for you. The best part is that these are super affordable anywhere from $4- $10! Search “ring adjusters and take your pick 🙂

2. Ring cleaning: Cleaning with your ring with household items is def. one of my favorite hacks. –Dawn Dish Soap: My friend Sydney tried the Dawn method and she loves how sparkly it leaves her ring afterwards. Essentially she lets the ring soak in warm water and & dawn dish soap for about 10-20 minutes. Then she uses a soft bristle toothbrush and scrub it to remove any dirt under the diamond or any crevice.

Windex: Another cleaning method is using Windex. Basically I did a mix of warm water with about 2-3 sprays of windex. I let my ring sit for about 5-10 minutes, then I rinsed it in warm water.I tried this one out and I loved the outcome! Sparkles for days!!

Another tip for ring cleaning is use the ring cleaners from the professionals such as the jewelry store where your ring is from. Seriously! This amazing solution leaves my ring looking brand new every time I use it. I use this solution about once a week or every other week at home and then I take it to the jewelry store about every 6 months to have it professionally cleaned. Check out some similar options I found:

3. Travel Ring: This is a great hack for the bride that wants to go the extra mile and not travel with the real thing. The thought about this is purchasing a “faux engagement ring” for when you are traveling, especially out of the country. Basically you would wear it if you are afraid of your real ring getting lost/stolen. If something were to happen to your travel ring, you probably won’t be as devastated since it won’t have that sentimental value that your actual ring holds. I think this is a great idea if your ring is a family heirloom with history/story behind it or if simply you would like to be extra cautious.  There are so many sites that sell these beautiful rings that look like many trendy engagement rings now a days.

Amazon: Platinum Plated Sterling Silver 6.5mm

Everly Rings: The Blakely Ring – they always have great sales and variety of styles!

Those are all the “hacks” I have for now. As I come across more, I will be sure to update this post! Til next time!
